Where did this wire go?

Ripped all my wiring out to re-do it and I have no idea where one of these wires went. It's a Duraspark II dizzy with the GM HEI module.

So I have 6 wires:

G wire - G pin to purple distributor wire
W wire - W pin to orange distributor wire
C wire - C pin to "-" on coil
B wire - B pin to "+" on coil
Ground wire - HEI grounding to chassis

And I have one more wire. I know one side of it goes to the black distributor wire, but it has a ring lug on the other end. Could it have been going to the "-" on the coil? Is that even grounded? I assume the correct way to route it is from the black distributor wire to the chassis, but who knows.

Thanks for the help again

Think I deduced it while sitting here...I think I had 2 ground wires (who knows?) One went from the black distributor wire to the HEI ground mount, and then one from the HEI ground mount to the chassis.

Thats the way I did mine with the grounds just to be sure it was grounded. Only risk would be if your main body to chassis ground went bad. Not sure on the W&G P&O but if it worked that way before it should be the same now. There are still bad links out there on that one.

MYSAVIOREIGNS, There is a drawing on www.mustangsteve.com website under the section titled "Convert Points to Electronic Distributor", that is for the Duraspark ll conversion. I am not sure what distributor module he used, but his drawing shows the various colored wires and where they go to. Hope this helps! Jim
