Howdy:
The standard Factory correct carb for a '70 250 engine is a Carter RBS. It is quite distinctive and unique with its bowl setting forward, almost seperate from the rest of the carb. '70 was the 1st year the RBS appeared on the 250 engines.
For the '69 model year FoMoCo used an Autolite 1101. It is very possible this carb spilled over into the next year.
Either are good basic carbs. Easy to rebuild and work on. CHeck the throttle shaft for excess play. It is about the only thing not easily tackled in a home rebuild. Both have a weak accelerator pump system that seldon last for more than a few years. Both are susceptible to dirt and contamination.
The RBSs were used on vehicles with auto and manual trans with no real difference. All were with an external source auto choke, with hot air and vacuum pull off.
Keep us informed on your progress.
Adios, David
