I bought an 81 Fairmont as a daily driver in October '03. Really like the car, but had it on the rack @ work the other day and noticed how close the starter is to the pre cat in the exhaust. Does the cat have to be unbolted from the manifold to remove the starter? Also, would any exhaust manifold from a 170-250 work on this car? I am thinking about getting rid of the pre cat completely with a manifold with a small flange.
