Hey Guys,
was out shopping today for a set of extractors for my ute...
I was at a guys house who had 2 250 EFi motors, one with a T5 and the other that had the extractors on it was in a car...
The motor looked pretty clean, he claimed it had seen something like 2000km since rebuild... But he also claimed it was a XR6 motor...

Now, i dont know everything there is to know about XF's but i wasnt aware they came out as a XR6, i thought the EB was the 1st...

He also calimed it'd been bored out to 4.3l.... seems a little unlikely to me...

Anyone know other wise ??

I was scratching my head about the whole thing, and as a result didnt part with any money...

ideas and thoughts welcome !!

thanks,
Cam

Umm is the motor an OHC?
Red covers are XR6 and the black ones are stockys.
Some XF utes had the EB OHC motors in them so installing a XR6 motor is a sinch. Also the OHC motors can be bored to 4.3's but only just i wouldve thought.
How dirty are the extractors? were they new with the rebuild?
If the oil is black or smells burnt then hes having a lend, and only a dickhead wouldnt keep reciepts for a rebuilt motor. Is it still under warrenty, where was it rebuilt?
Hit him with some of these questions all in quick sucsession and youll soon know what the deal is. Steve

Hey Steve,
its a 250 for sure !
It looks super clean inside the oil cap, so it has at least had the haed done recently...
The extractors look pretty new too...

Pitty the rest of the install isnt upto scratch...

Also the motor didnt run very well, and as soon as the guy started it he reved it to about 4.5k and held it there...

Who treats a cold motor like that??

I'm thinking i'll walk away form this one, might be good, but too many unknowns...
