the carbs are the autolite 1100's. and I have sprayed carb spray around the carbs and it does not affect the engine at all. I would figure that a carb vacuum leak would speed up the idle. I am going to check the vacuum advance tonite when I get off work. Thanks again everyone for all your help.
Today was a good day! I took the two end carbs off and made two metal block off plates to bolt down to the intake. I rebuilt the other carb (which was really easy) and bolted it back on to the intake. The car fired right up and ran great. My loud sucking noice was gone and the car had lots of power. I was even able to break the tires loose when I left my house. Thank you all for your help and I know I will be asking more questions. You guys are great.
