Im having some fun with my alternator. I'm on my third one in a month and can't seem to get it charging (my battery has been tested good but keeps dying). I guess I can't get the wiring right. I know which wires are the Battery (all black) and the ground (black with red stripe) but I can't figure out the field or the stator. I have a white wire and a white with black stripe wire left. The car starts now as I have it hooked up with the white wire going to field and the white/black going to stator, but the alternator light comes on now. The funny thing is that the idiot light didn't come on before, even when the bad alternators were in and the car was not starting/dying. SOrry for the long story....please help!

I read through some of the alternator posts and its seems that I have it hooked up correctly. I am going to start the car, get it warm, then disconnect the neg cable of the batt. If the car dies...then its not charging, if it stays running then the alternator is charging....does that make sense?

Yes it is an externally regulated alternator.

ALso, the wireing diagram posted has different color wires than the one I have I think...but I'll look at it agian.
Thanks!
