just a notice. in the past i sold special motormounths for droppin in a 250 engine ore when adding a bigger carb onto a 200 and getting hood problems.
they are stainles steel and in 2 hights adjustible , with replaceble rubber ore poly urethane . your choice .

just another solution i did made in the past .

I am using a side mount air cleaner off a 1981 f100 with a 300 6cyl.I didn`t need hood clearance,it was just the only air cleaner I had.Had to make adapter to fit my smaller carb, but that was easy.Looks like it was made for my falcon.Worked great.Like was said before econolines and other fords used these air cleaners.

Thats one of the coolest looking air cleaners I've seen.

But, if you have clearance problems then be careful spending all that $$ 'coz in the fine print on the Summit description: Net Height from Carb Flange (in)VL: 3.250 in.

There has been alot of good discussion about clearance issues on this board Do a search for "Hood AND Clearance" and check it out.

I just ordered from Summit crome round 14" cleaner that has a total height of 1.75" above carb flange (part# PRO-66804) which should work for me. Plus there is usually a 1/2" lip on the carb hole in the base plate that can be removed to lower the cleaner a little more if needed.

Good luck

I have the same one it isn't on the car yet but it looks like with that cleaner an autolite 2bbl and theadapter from summit the total hight will be very close to the original 1bll if not shorter

I run that 'Hi-Tech" on my 62-(found a blemished one for $75)-But i have an Autolite 2BBL which even with the Clifford adapter is shorter than the stock 1BBL. The filters are actually at a slight angle so there is actually a front and back for clearance considerations, as the round body hoods sit at a slope.
