Howdy Jammer:
Tony's advise is good stuff. In addition, I'd suggest that you buy the appropriate carb rebuild kit and take a thorough look at the instruction sheet that is enclosed. If I can do it, it can't be that difficult.
You'll need a clean, well lite work area, a container of carb cleaner and a can of spray carb cleaner. Cleanlyness is critical.
If the car is currently correctly jetted, no need to change anything there. Setting the choke is simple if you follow the direction in the rebuild kit instruction sheet.
Reassembly is critical. Take your time. Make sure that gaskets are lined up and in place. A dab of Vasoline will help to keep them in place. Once it's back together go back and tighten. Once it's back on the car, watch for gas leaks and listen for vacuum leaks. Fix them then fine tune the low speed air screw and enjoy.
Adios, David
