Carb swap...

Alrighty im just looking for some pointers here. I still have the Carter one barel from my 82 300 six and i was going to try running it on my 64 223 six. Im just wondering wich port to plug my vac advance into. Thanks for the help.

Howdy mepr:

Your '82 carter will not have a Spark Control Valve (SCV) to send the correct vacuum signal to the stock Load-a-Matic distributor on the 223.

The 223 distributor is a vacuum only advance distributor. It gets a very specific modified load sensitive signal from the SCV in the stock 1101 Autolite carb.

There is good general info on the small six forum on the SCV and the Load-a-matic distributor FYI.
