I bumped into a clamp that goes to water spacer under carb. I didnt notice...and then over heated on highway.

I pulled over, let it cool as much as i could, and slowly drove to next exit and gas station
I fixed the clamp...waited approx 20 minutes and filled with water/coolant

now, it seems as if there is a bubbling from between the valve cover and carb....

did I blow head gasket, and worse, warp the head?

advice!!!!

anyone have a spare gasket?

Call me confused. You bumped the clamp, and now it is overheating? Am I correct in assuming your clamp leaked out the coolant?

Bubbling between the valve cover and the carb? The carb does not sit on the valve cover so by between do you mean down on the head in between the carb and the valve cover? as in down in the "pockets" around the head bolts?
Can you clarify the location?

yeah, I bumped the clamp....didnt notice...drove...car overheated. I nursed it to a gas station. It was running HOT

The bublling seems to be coming form on the head....between the carb and valve cover...in the valleys. Is there a head bolt there?

THERE IS Liquid there...but I had sprayed the car engine down to remove any leftover anti freeze

I also worried a may have warped head. I thought I did everything right....waited long enough...etc

There are head bolts down in the valley's. Sometimes the valleys are filled with grime and rust. If you have water in those valleys, they will boil off the water. You might need to mop up the antifreeze with a rag or paper towel. The glycol may take longer to boil/evaporate from the valley. Once it boils off / evaporates check it again and make sure that nothing is filling up the valleys. I suspect you have nothing to worry about.

I have the exact same problem. There is water leaking from the head bolt in between the carb and valve cover on mine. it will start leaking after I shut my car off. If I open the hood I can hear it hiss and then after that some antifreeze will come up the head bolt. My gasket is probably bad but I am in the process of finding a core engine so I can get it rebuilt so I'm not going to go through the hassle of getting it fixed.

I recommend bypassing the carb heater altogether. Run the hose via the shock tower if you feel you need the hetaer core to work. I did this and have had no problems. Chances are the liquid is anto-freeze. I had almost the sma ething and it looked like it bubbled, too. Dry it out real good...maybe even blow itout with an air hose if youhave one...then see what happens.

The hose connections on the carb spacer are susceptible to extreme corrosion and may not have enough metal left to clamp onto.

You should not have to worry about carb ice where you live.

If you need a spacer let me know. I have one ingood shape kicking around here at home.

Good luck.

i really really hope I have nothing to worry about...but suspect I do. I looked at the liguid and its GREEN GREEN like its fresh.

I am going to dry it off....drive it to work, keeping an eye on temp. If it is still acting up, I will stop in the wya home tomorrow

funny, my friends coming into town have never sen my car running...it is always in shop...but hasnt been for months,, until they are coming

I will by pass the spacer...i want to run one continutous hose from heater to block...

fingers crossed!!!

Check out the carb spacer, when you hit the clamp you may have cracked the nipple that the heater hose connects to.

pulled valve cover...water everywhere...drained oil...water

honestly, I did notice around block/head that there was small seapage recently

so I am getting a vlave job/machined head and new gasket for $500...(included vavle seals etc...)

last time it was $800

Funny...i just randomly picked a shop near work..walked in and asked if he does vintage mustangs...he pointed back of shop..he has a 67 6 cyl he is restoring. I knew it was right place

oye!

atleast I got a freelance check to cover...no iPod for me though
