Dual exhaust

Hey all,
So I got my clifford 6-2 header in and I need some advice. This being the first car I have done any work onyou guys have been a godsend, but now another question, for dual exhuast what setup should I use, get a 66 gt setup from any supplier and have it modified, or take it to a shop for custom, if that how much should I be looking to spend. If the gt from the suppliers is the way, what all can I do to make it fit or would a shop have to do the fabricating?

Thanks

depends mainly on your wants and budget I guess, A few like te standard GT exhaust systems with dual turbo mufflers. I say get a GT exhuast modified as I tihnk it would fit better over the axle and such.

i'd probably price it out around the muffler shops that are near your house. I know if i go to the professional, get it done in two hours, lifetime warranty shop, i can get a dual exhaust for about $380 without tips, with tips and different mufflers the cost goes up but its not priced that bad really *shrug*. I'm sure at a smaller shop you could get a better deal.

Then after pricing it around there, you can check out how much the other way would cost.

I am in the same process you are I got the pacemaker header from mike and bought a standard gt exhaust from summit. The summit pipes did need a litlle messaging to fit properly into the rear axle but they do fit nicely i dont have the header in yet but since mine are long tubes it shouldnt be too hard. Your local auto store should also have a lot of pipe and bends if you have access to a torch to bend and a welder it can be done pretty easity however it becaomes much easire with 2 people as far as aligning the pipes goes. The reason I went this route was cost this system from summit was 150 w/ muffler where as the exhaust shops around me wanted 400-500. also check out mustang geezers site he has done this with a gt exhuast kit.

Most of your price in the exhaust though is tied up in labor, you could get a pipe custom bent for your car for about the same as the price of a GT kit and weld it yourself, that way you don't run the risk of ruining those nice mandrel bends :).
