Dura spark pick up coil

I'm I missing something? My pick up coil will move laterally in the distributor. It has one tab that it slides under and the pin that it pivots on. The one side is only held down by the vacuum advance canister rod and it will allow it to move up and down. I see two tabs under the reluctor wheel but they don't make contact so it will move up and down.

8) yes, you are missing something. there should be a screw that holds the pick up coil in place. also the reluctor wheel should have a clip that holds it in place on the distributor shaft. it sounds like someone tool your distributor apart, and failed to put it back together properly.

The base plate is held by 2 screws to the distributor housing.
The upper plate is held by a c clip with a wafer washer & tabs from the base plate. The tabs may need to be squeezed down to make contact with the moveable plate where the pickup coil is.
The pickup coil should be fixed firmly to the moveable plate.
If there is movement the whole plate assemble should be replaced.
There should be lubriplate lube between the tabs & the moveable plate to allow easy movement when the vacuum advance is rotating the plate.
The reluctor is a tight slip fit over the distributor advance & should bottom out on the champher of the distributor advance..
There is no clip which holds the reluctor to the shaft.
The only clip is the one which holds the advance part on the shaft that the reluctor splips onto.
