Hello! It has been I while since I have been on here BUT I have some good news for all of us FORD 6 lovers...

If you want low cost efi (that is not factory) have a look at a MEGASQUIRT (msefi.com). You build it yourself and with the options you want - and the efi bits (sensors, injectors, etc.) can be anything you scrounge up! It runs my old efi 250 better than the stock system with MORE POWER! Cost me all up about $500 Australian to build the controller and I reused everything else. $500 won't buy much carby and manifold, and efi stuff is cheap now and more common than modified Toranas.

(by the way, this is not meant to be an ad, I just want to help anyone who wants to go efi but is scared off by the cost and inflexibility of the big names).

Cheers

Kendall.

Hey Kendall, well done on getting your megasquirt up and running.

Did you have much trouble? Any gotchas for young players?
What mileage are you getting now vs the old EFI setup?

A mate of mine is about to build a Megasquirt setup for a 302W, which he is building for a GT40 replica. Looks like interesting stuff!

got any pix of the wiring section of it etc

getting anoyed with my carby.. its a efi motor.. and i got all the manifolds sitting there with the original computer..

and this looks like the way to go

i got a cam n that in my motor.. and stock ECU == crapola for anything slightly modded.

The way I did my setup, I built the megasquirt into a FORD EECIV case, so all I had to do was plug the thing straight into the original ford wiring harness. So, if the new ecu dies I can put the ford one back in to keep us mobile! It has freed up lots more power and I can get the thing to run much better (no hunting idle, etc.). The economy is marginally better. But MORE POWER. PM me if anyone has more specific questions.
