Electric Fan Conversion

Hey all,

I know this topic has been discussed in its entirety but I just had a few questions about electric fans. First off, is there a direct bolt on fan for a stock '65 Mustang 200cui radiator? Would something like this be sold in a kit? And finally, what are others opinions about the conversion in terms of cooling. I know this has probably been posted before but all my searches brought up over 2000 results and most had nothing to do with this topic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

8) there is no direct bolt on electric fan for the early mustangs ot my knowledge. most places will sell you a fan kit that uses a universal mount that uses plastic retainers that go through the radiator to hold the fan in place. you can also fabricate mounts for the fan it isnt hard. you will get a small gain in power and efficiency by installing an electric fan, but dont expect too much. there are wiring kits available from a number of sources that make wiring in a fan easy, my advice is to get one with an auxiliary switch in case the thermostatic switch fails.

Actually HotRodAir sells a radiator/fan/shroud/condenser combo for 65-66 Mustangs that fits to stock hole location. They also sell just the radiator/fan/shroud and the fan/shroud combos. Try www.Hotrodair.com. Last time I checked just the fan/shroud was in the $500 range. You can go much cheaper with a universal fit. If you do call and they are lower in price let me know! I'd love to buy a direct fit fan/shroud for my new three row radiator.

if only i knew about thier A/C option... i paid 1200 for my under dash...

does that 3 row rad fan/shroud fit the I6? i think it's meant for the v8 because i barly have room on my car...

Last time I checked they did have a radiator/fan assembly for the small block six. Look at the picture on thier web site, the fan is pretty thin; I'd think it would work with our longer motors.

I'd strongly suggest avoid using the plastic ties that mount between radiator tubes. They work ok for a while but then will eventually rub hole in the tubes.

Nothing wrong with a cheap universal electric fan, just make proper mounting brackets for it.

Awesome guys. Thanks for all of the advice, I knew there had to be some type of options available. Ill have to do some research to find a good deal on one of the universal ones and get some mounts made up. Hopefully this will help keep my engine a little cooler as well.
