electric fan swap

I am replaceing my fan tommorrow with a new electric unit. my ?? is, where is best place to hook to hot for power, should it run all the time or??

8) i would run a power lead from the batt to a relay that is controled by a temp sending unit. that way the fan runs when the engine is hot.

i also replace my fan , with a electric 1 , nice you bring this up , got a question also for it , where to put the elec fan ? in front ore behind the radiator , making it a blower ore puller ? wat is the best performance for a elec fan ?

btw myn comes with a control unit , temp sensor and adjustible heat setting

Well i got a electic fan on my 200 and it is behind the radiator. I hooked mine up like rbohm said with a power lead and control relay that turns the fan on and off whenever the engine is at a certain temp.

I, for one, would be interested to know the brand of your fan. What was the cost? How difficult to install? My stock fan is very close to the rad, was this a problem for you? Is your fan in a shroud? Does it do a good job down there in sunny FL?

Well i think i got the fan out of summit. I forgot the brand. I think it costed about $80 i am not sure. The fan wasn't difficut at all to install, but one think you got to make sure of is that you get a low profile fan b/c like you said my regular fan was very close to my rad so i couldn't buy a regular electric fan. I dont use a fan shroud and it does exellent down here even in the very hot summers. It has never overheated.

8) behind the rad in a puller configuration seems to be best. also wire in an override switch in case the fan controller fails. that way you have a backup.

Behind is best, but there was no way I could make mine fit there. I have a 16" style mounted in front (with an a/c condenser too) and had to greatly modify the hood latch to make it fit there. It does however cool just fine up there. Be sure to add a relay and a temp switch. You'll be amazed at how oftern the fan DOESN'T come on. The engine is really able to cool itself well when moving down the road.
As far as where to hook it up, just read the included instructions with the fan and switch purchase.
BTW, they say curved blades are quieter. I have a straight blade style and can't say it's all the loud though. Mine is a Mr. Gasket low profile model. I am very happy with the quality. It was an ebay purchase.
