Fan Clearance Problem w/Alternator

I changed out my alternator to a single pulley and still have clearance problems with the shaft/nut.
Anyone who has switched over from generator to alternator have this problem?
How did you solve it? There is not much clearance between the fan and radiator so any spacers would be minimal.

8) i had no clearance issues when i did my alternator swap. except for the lower mount being built a bit tight, my swap went in like it was a factory deal.

Well, I changed out the dual to a single pulley on the alternator and did the same for the water pump pulley and damper.

I now have very good clearance.

I was running the CI dual damper, dual water pump and alternator pullies and the fan was hitting the edge of the alternator
and damper. Why I have no idea. The thickness of the single water pump pulley is the same as dual and the CI damper is very close to
if not the same as the dual stock damper.

I am snakebit on this one and will have to do some more trial and error research. Bizarre!!!

My64 falcon has the original parts on it . !70 engine came with power steering so the fan has six blades , but not a lot of pitch. I just removed the generator and installed the alternator ,no problems at all other than redoing the wireing.

Well, that 6 blade fan with little pitch may be the reason why the stock fan did not work. I do have a 6 blade fan I picked up at Carlisle last year.
When I go to intall the engine in my second car, I will try the dual setup with that fan and see.
The 4 blade fan does have quite a bit of pitch to it and was just hitting the edge of the dual damper and alternator pulley.

Do you have any type of spacer you can see?

This was a rare option for the falcon. I ordered it new with power steering, 170 engine, daeganham 4/sp,350 rear gears. They used the station wagon rear in them to get that ratio, which has larger axle bearings and seals. Can you relocate your radiator to the front side of its mounting flang and space it and the fan forward ? I'v never looked at mine that close to see if it can be done . JIM
