What is the procedure to have the perfect air / fuel mixture ? Turning the screw by 1 1/2 turn is ok but I am looking for a fine tuning. Could you help?

Thanks

you will need a vacuum gauge. Hook it up directly to the intake manifold. Also get a tach to keep your idle speeds at the right rpm. Then while you are setting the idle mixture you want the highest possible vacuum reading, turn the screw in or out.. make sure the idle speed stays in an acceptable range. When you get the idel circuits figured out you will move onto the cruise range (to set the mixture for when you are cruising). This one is harder, either you need to get an air/fuel meter or a wide band O2 sensor. Then you can watch the gauge while driver to make sure it stays at the stoiometric setting that you prefer (I think it is usually 12 through 14.7 to 1) Change the jets in the carb accordingly also be mindful of the airflow through your air filter and PCV system (If you have a PCV, you might not)

Or you can do the old school method of reading spark plugs. This is what I do. Normally I will take my car into town and back (about 40 miles) then let it cool and check the spark plug condition. There are a few resources on the internet that have spark plug reading charts to help you figure out whether you need to richen or lean the main jets.

good luck
