as i stated in the title, someone that i work with has a granada with a 250 and said i could have the engine and C4 tranny, i'm just taking the engine to throw in the stang but my main question is what bell housing and adapter do i need to match the 250 with my T-5? also what else will i need to do to put it in my car?

also could i get some HP numbers, i'm planning a major build that i will be going all out on, so keep that in mind.

also will the rear end fit in my 66 stang without any modifications?

Howdy Nathan:

You will need to find a bell housing for a standard trans 250. Then the adapter for the T5. The C4 behind a 250 makes a great combo with a 3.25:1 rear end gear.

What year is the Granada. An early model may have an 8". Later Granada are based on the Fox platform. Oh ya, It must be an early type. later Fox based Granadas only came with 200s.

If your rebuilding the block be sure to talk with me before you get too far. You will have to deal with the huge deck height to get any CR and performance. There are several options.

I've been asking about tip's on the 250 swap as well and will follow with interest if you keep posting.

One thing I have already done is acquire some '69 250 frame mounts. I haven't had a chance to physically check these yet but it is obvious they will allow the motor to sit lower in the engine bay. I understand motor mounts are hard to find. I've only tried Autozone for the Mustang mounts, surely some one has them. I'll be asking for Mav, Granada, anything I can think of from here on.

If I understand correctly the 250 has the same bell housing as a small block V8. You would have to get a "0" (zero) balance flywheel from a 250 or 300 six ( interchangeable ?).

IIRC the Mustang housing should measure 52.25" from bearing flange to flange, not sure on the pads. I have one if you need the measurements.
The U-joints are different on the 7.25" rear so you may have to do some things to the driveshaft assbly.

One last thing. The 250 is NOT a throw in affair to a Mustang. Check the tech pages on the swap and search for posts. I plan to do a '67 and am finding all sorts of little glitches. Plan carefully.

There is a quite easy way to install the 250s. It requires some fabrication in flat steel and uses an Aussie 250 mount set on the block. Hopefully posting this won't make Ron (Coupe Boy) mad:

A through bolt (note holes lower left) secures the rubber mount to your fabricated steel plates on the chassis - regular motor mount position and fixing. With tubular spacers, the motor can be set back to little as 1/8" off the firewall, and higher or lower as needed.

thanks addo!

another question: on the US 250 did it have the removable intake??? or is it the log intake like the 200's?

wait a minute... i don't know what chocolate frog means... what's that???

would i get enough power out of the 250 to make it worth not just building another 200 block and put the 250 head on it?

Chocolate frog - rhymes with "Log". Gotcha!

I'd plump for the 250 myself but it needs to be a finessed buildup. Attention to detail is what will make it economical, not just grunty.
