I'm thinking about getting a points to electronic conversion kit for my dizzy. Is this worth it and what kind of kit should I get? Or am I better off trying to get a duraspark II system and if so where would I be able to get a complete setup. I need to get my ignition system straight so I can get this car on the road. Right now I'm just having too many problems with the current distributer setup and my holley 2 barrel

There are a few conversion kits around now. Petronix has been around the longest and seems to be the most popular. One of the big ignition guys (mallory maybe) has a fairly new kit out now also. Kits seem to run $50-100 and often can use the stock coil if you want to. Some use stock cap and rotor but it varies by application. If you get one that uses a special rotor be sure to take into account cost and availability. If you are going for 'orignal' looks the conversions are the best because on the outside look stock. There is a small cap '74 DS that looks like the points one and uses the same looking wires. The dizzy body is slightly differnt but at a glance it looks stock.

I did my DS2 with new and rebuilt parts for around $175. That was rebuilt single advance dizzy, new blaster 2 coil, new hei wires, new cap & rotor, new GM module, and standard plugs. I did get a junkyard one but it was shot so I used it for the $10 core and the cap adaptor.

This thread has the links to the parts I used on my '66 mustang 200:
