Yes, the imported US Borg Warner T5 became a specialised RPO on some Brock Commodore VK's in 1984 and Walkinshaw VL and the first VN's and then the VP was tha last cable Commodore T5 in 1993. Borg Warner became BTR in 1988, and local building of the T5 came in late 1987 with the VL Group A and pre-production EA 26 Falcon.
15 years after the Falcon XD got the worlds first fully electronic speedo via VDO instruments, the 1994 VR came out with a Vehicle Speed Sensor and an electronic drive.
Any Commodore gearbox has the better Holden ratios. V6's got the V8 T5 Ford ratios and diff gears, while the good old Holden V8 TIL 98 got the US Mustang V8 ratios.
And I haven't any idea what the Bellhousing paterns are on Holden V8's. Trimatic bell housing patterns were common for the last unleaded 304's, then the Walkinshaw V8 got a Chevy THM 700 R4 but the Holden V6 may have run a slightly different Buick Olds Pontiac (BOP) pattern for the GM 3800.
And knowing BTR, there are bound to be two different main shafts for each of the local T5's, as the Falcon and Holden V6's were non world class, yet the 304 and 5.0 V8's were supposeldly upgraded to a higher spec.
