I have put a new exhaust put on my car (200 cid) and a 40 series Flowmaster, I have an issue though, that thing gets "darn hot" and it sits VERY CLOSE to my gas tank. Just how much clearance do I need between the two and should I be concerned about this?

Thanks

Nice to see another Vancouver Canucks Fan
are you running dual out or just single?

I am going to get rid of my flowmaster and run dual out with something that is not as loud

I do like the sound it has at idle though !!

thanks
john

I was worried about the same thing with my flowmaster - I made a small heat shield out of a piece of aluminum siding soffit placing it between the tank and muffler with about an inch of air space on each side of the shield.

I ended up moving the muffler entirely, it's now located 3/4 of the way to the back of the car just inside where the floor pans rise up (where it should be located if you ask me), it's a single exhaust but it's a 2" pipe now, and WOW does it sound "meaty" all the old fellers nod and wave at me when I drive by now instead of shaking their heads at the long haired hippy freak.

:P
