Anyone got recomendations on mufflers? I'd love to also hear them if you got sound files. I was thinking of flowmaster 40 series...

Chris

i think most will recommend that you don't go with flows
they sorta whine at higher RPMs

try one of the various Turbo style mufflers

I am running one these right now
DTM 3.5" DUAL

2.5 piping from header back, to this.

looks AWSOME, sounds even better.

Looks like we have a comedian!

Anways... what kind of turbo mufflers are best? Thanks

Chris

not sure
everyone's got a different opinion
you could try searching though, look for "exhaust" or "mufflers" and limit the search to this section alone
should be able to dig up almost everything everyone's ever said on them

1BigStang, I love the big Stangs. They are hotter than a Lamborghini Espada. History is starting to smile on these old forgotten Fords. It has the 250 in it, yes?

Oh, your Mustang with a set of dual quads would be scarry. And, ha ha ha, 1BigForeSkin, I know what religion your not.....

I'm thinking SuperTrapps  anyone have any experience with them? I like the tunable aspect of them, but never knew of anyone putting them on a 6 :?:

See Ya,
Mike

Objection, Ive got 50 series flows and they dont whine, they sound like a freakin harly at high revs. Sounds even nicer with the Holley 500 and MSD! I love it at idle and taking off from stop. Around 2K-2800 rpm it sounds alot like a 302 sbf. Sounds wonderful!!!!!!
Matt

I have 2 of the 40 series Flowmaster, with no crossover pipe and 6 into 2 headers. THey sound great, no whine whatsover.

Bill

I got Flowsmaster finally installed running 2.50 off a cliffy header into a 2chamber american thunder 40series muffler and it sounds hella beefy some peoples even turn their heads if i rev up my motor to like 2500 or just roll by them... I love flowmasters. Exhaust is felt when the ground shakes not heard. lol

I am running a dual exhaust system with a FSPP dual out header and Borla ProXS mufflers. The Borlas sound great and do not whine at high RPMs. They sound nice at idle (not quiet, but not loud) and sound even better when you hit the throttle! :D

According to the article on Jegs, #387-50225 does not have the bolt-on flange for headers, instead its a slip on. 2-1/4" on both ends, so I suppose its like any other glass pack, but I could be wrong. Anybody got something on this? I'm kinda interested in the Hornies.

what about something not as loud and looks stock? i know you guys like loud, and loud is good for custom performance cars, but what if everything is stock. what i have know sounds terrible. so what about that stock sound and look?

Autozone has a small size turbo muffler available in 2", 2 1/4", and 2 1/2" .
these are very good mufflers for the money. I ran these on a jeep cj with fenderwell headers with good results. mufflers did not rust at all. they are aluminized, best part? they are less than $20. For the money they cant be beat.

I like a single outlet header with a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler, like this one, http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... LK%2D17732
it’s a Super Turbo, 2 1/4 in. offset inlet/offset outlet, muffler and it’s only $34.88 at Summit.
