NOS or 3 carbs?

I have a 3 carb set up for my 250, but was thinking a NOS set up would be easier and make more power. Anyone running NOS? Wadda ya think?

Also, has anyone put a 3 carb set up on a 250 Maverick? Will it clear the hood?

bob go to sleep its late!

i posted my answer to this on the other boards

with nitrous, you're going to have to supply the added fuel somehow, not too mention building the engine for it
and then you have to refill the bottle every so often

i'd say, go with the tri-carb, then later on if you need more power add nitrous

I have Nitrous on one of my Harleys and it is a definite rush. BUT many things need to be taken into consideration. Really should have forged pistons and timing needs to be less agressive along with extra fuel supply. If done properly NOS is way cool but done wrong it is a disaster. But i gotta admit that smokeing the back tire of my 820lb touring bike at 70MPH by pushing the button at 4000 rpm in 4th gear is an experience. If going NO2 i would run the 3 carbs anyways plus add some kind of fogger or injector(you need all the gas you can get with NO2)and keep the CR down just a little lower. Nitrous oxide in itself is not flamable so without plenty of fuel you end up with a lean condition that will burn pistons like a fogotten marshmallow in a campfire. On my bike i used an Edelbrock kit that came with selenoids, fuel pump, fogger plate with extra jets. then had to change the petcock on the tank to keep up with the flow.
mileage on my bike is 45-50 MPG at 55mph with out nitrous, at 85mph 38-40mpg----when playing with the button --about 25mpg.

Thanks for the input guys. This a bone stock 250 so maybe the 3 carb seup is going to be best. As far as the fogger. I was thinking of a tube with jets or holes as needed pointing at each port placed in the log held in place by the freeze plugs at each end.

The system would be a drag strip only piece so bottle refills were not an issue.

Thanks guys.
