Hey gang. The car rolled off the carrier today a filthy mess, but nothing 5 hours of elbow grease couldn't cut through. I went over the entire thing and she sparkles nicely. Anywho, on to my point..
I crawled under the block to find me a casting # and count freeze plugs and to my elation, found 5 freeze plugs and a C8 casting number! SWEET! That means its the 200, right?? She's quite peppy!
SO...know that I know what motor i'm dealing with, I'm looking for straight up facts and part numbers if possible for what products I want to upgrade. i appreciate opinions, but for a weekend warrior mechanic like me, opinions leave room for error!
The car: '63 Falcon Futura Convertible w/'68 200, no PS or PB and generator still
1. dual master cylinder swap: which car's dual master is bolt on and plumb the lines? I've seen people suggest mustangs and mavericks etc. You tell me which and I'll buy it, but don't make me guess! :roll:
2. shock towers: I saw some chrome ones somewhere for a mustang I believe. I've also seen two different types: ones that are in my car (tall, tripod like with a center hole) and ones that have more of a slot at the top. Are these interchangeable? Can I use either type? Which cars have the same towers as my Falcon?
3. dizzie: based on what I've read, since i have a 200 block from '68 i should be able to drop in a Duraspark dizzie from later models, right? When I go the local parts store, what dizzie do I ask for (year and model and which motor?)? I have the MSD6A bolted to the fender and ready to hook up...do I also need the original control box?
4. fuel pump: I want something prettier and better. I'm dressing the engine well out for shows, so pretty is important. Even if it's just a stock (as opposed to a Holley or something) replacement, which model car shood I ask for.
5. front shocks. I need to replace mine. Which do I want?
there is a large tube running from my air cleaner into my firewall..? Is this some kind of breather for the tranny? Can I eliminate it with no real issues? If not, what do I do when I slap on my new chrome aircleaner that has no fitting for it?
Well, I guess that's it for now..I stress FOR NOW.
