:D I went looking for a project Mustang with the idea of getting a V8. I stumbled on your site and got hooked on the idea of a 6. Found a nice rust free 66 locally and made the deal. I decided to tackle this project differently than past ones by getting it painted first, while concurrently working on the drivetrain. The engine is being pulled this week and I am taking it down for a rebuild. Below are some questions y'all might have some answers for.

1. Do I go with a triple weber setup or a single 2V Weber or something else? I want reliability, but a little extra performance won't hurt. I want a cruiser and something that looks good at the shows. I like the sex apeal of the triple Weber setup.

2. I have the Load-O-Matic Dizzy, Is there a drop in (no modifications) Duraspark unit I can get for it? I assume I have to change it to use a newer carb setup?

3. I have a stock non syncro three speed manual. I have purchased a 3 speed Top Loader to switch it over but understand it required a new bell housing, clutch components, etc. Anyone done this and was it worth it?

4. Anyone find a good solution to getting 4 lug wheels or is it easier and cheaper in the long run to move to 5 lug?

Thanks for any and all input, I will post pics as things progress.

first off congrats on finding a rust free car!!!!! that's getting vary hard to do any more. on the carb topic yes the triple Weber setup is cool looking but can be hard to tune if you are looking for a milled up grade i recommend the Holy 350 cfm 2v but even the stock 200 seems to like the 500 cfm 2v Holy even more. the best way i have fond on the dizzy is to get a duraspark dizzy out of an 82 mustang with a 200 from your local parts store and the ignition box off the same year car. then go to a salvage yard and get the short harness off of a early 80s ford truck. then just plug it in the two wire plug is just power just run a key on power to bolth of them. I think the lug pattern on the wheels is the same as the 5.0 mustang but i could be wrong on that. Good luck on your new project.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions. I will look into the dizzy suggestion you made, sounds straight forward. Glad to now the 2V setups work well for you. Lots of posts on both subject on this site, hard to make up my mind. :?

I believe the only car that shares the same bolt pattern as the old stangs is a nissan z or datson or something... we have a 4x4.5 and the other 4 lug stangs are 4 on 4.25....

Welcome to the madness and sickness of the six. I started out like you.

Now everything will be overwhelming, I suggest taking a step back and troll the forums some and get ideas. Look at people's websites and get some ideas (I know I need to update mine...)

2) http://www.kastang.net/pertvds2.html

3) Personally, if you are going to go through the trouble of changing the stuff for the top loader, why not go with a 5speed T5? http://www.kastang.net/T5review.html

4) I love my stock spinner hub caps. I'm upgrading to 5 lug but keeping the same size rims in a 5lug pattern. There are some sharp 4 lug patterns out there.

Again, welcome to FSP.
