I'm relatively new to the forum, and i have been wondering for the longest time as to how to go about putting a/c in my car
I have a 1966 ford fairlane 500 2dr with the base engine straight six, and a c-4 transmission, i have heard that a/c was installed factory on some of these cars, i bought the underdash unit and i have the other stuff as well, my question is where and how do i mount the compressor? i have mounting brackets taht were said to have been from an in-line six, but i am unsure as to where to put them, right now my engine has the original non-air configuratoin, how do i go about changing this? any help would be greatly appreciated....thanks

There was more than one way to mount the compressor. Can you take some pictures and post them? I can e-mail you photos of my own setup, which was a dealer installed unit. Some of the other members may be able to send or post pics of other setups.

You said you have the underdash unit and other stuff?
Is this the stock unit or an aftermarket one?

I have the aftermarket unit and the Sanden compressor...
my unit has a large bracket that mounts under the alternator and moves the alternator up...

stock mount was slightly different, this is all on a 65 Mustang, but I would think the engine parts would be similar....

Here is a shot of mine...
