Question for Mr. Slade: V8 Pedal rod

Alright Slade...no secrets. Tell me how you did it.

I have the cable setup so I get a nice straight on pull (it is not very pretty but it works). The problem is that the V8 pedal rod does not give me enough pull. It does not even open up the primary valve completely. If I tilt the rod all the way forward so as to get more travel the accelerator pedal is even with the brake pedal. That is pretty high. So Slade, I ask you, how far off the floor is your pedal?

Thanks,

Justin

Check the Haynes manual. They have a section showing how to adjust the gas pedal to the stock height.
PS: I don't know how high Slade's pedal is.

I'll check...but IIRC, it's about .5" or so lower. I know if I slide my foot off the gas pedal I'll hit the brake pedal with the side of the sole of my shoe. I'll check when I get home.

As far as adjusting...I'll check, Maybe I drilled another hole to get the proper reach. I'll see, that's very possible. My hardest part though was setting the pedal to WOT on the carb and the floor at the same time. That's where I set my cable. But, now that I think more about it, I may very well have drilled another hole and forgot about it.

Actually, when I look at the picture, I drilled a hole lower on the L bracket that is on the throttle rod. Maybe that's what I did differently. Eventually, I'm going to replace that set up with something a little cleaner.

Okay...the pedal is about 1" lower then the brake pedal. The cable is at the same position as the mechanical linkage hole, just throw the L bracket vice the pedal rod.
