Recurved DUI and all is well!!

Last week I received my recurved DUI back from wsa111. I can tell you he is a miracle worker. The car is running great, it made a huge difference. A few months ago I was freaking out. I was having major drive-ability issues on my new rebuild and was dreading that my cam selection combined with stock stall converter and stock RE was making this car a nightmare to drive in the city. In order to keep it from stalling I had to feather the gas constantly. Every time I shift from park to reverse or drive I had to be on the throttle or it would stall.

For my situation the money for the recurve has been the best money spent on this project. Before I was running 26 degrees initial and I was at 48 degrees at 3500 rpm. I had to have the idle set at about 1300 in drive just to keep from stalling. I had spent a ton of money to get this car to this point and I still couldn't even enjoy it. It was looking like I would have to pay to have the stall converter modified or order a custom one, and possibly have to get away from the 264 110 cam, and all I could see was a black hole money pit.

Now!! I received the distributor last week. I dropped it in, set the initial to 18 and off we went. All idle and stalling issues have disappeared. It idles at 1000 RPM in park and 650 in drive. Vacuum is at 18 inches at idle in park. The total has been limited to 38 degrees and it all in by 2700RPM. The idle is smooth and all the lopyness that was so worrisome before is gone. I can drive stop like to stop light with out feathering the gas and no longer fear city driving. It is a blast to drive. Power has increased significantly from 1100 to 3000 RPM and it is just ripping. I couldn't be happier.

Finally, I am at a good stopping point for now. I just want to enjoy driving my car for awhile. I have not needed to change idle jets, mechanically advance cam, or change stall converter. I'm sure these things will add to performance, but I will do them in do time, but for my build they have not been necessary to enjoy this build. The recurve was key.

Wsa111 was a huge help!!!! I sent the distributor with all the info he requested. He kept me informed with everything he was doing and had it back to me within a week. I would highly recommend recurving your distributor if you have any of these issues, I am now a believer.

Thanks to everyone on here who has helped me get this build to the point. This really is a great community.

Thanks, it is customers like you who supply all the correct information make it so much easier to achieve the final results. Bill

I'll be running a stock 250 with a YFA off a 300, early 250 timing chain (Sunwest does this automatically with a rebuild), smoothed out exh man and not much else. Sounds like this service would gain performance and, more importantly to me, fuel mileage.
Glad to see you're enjoying your ride. That's what it's all about!
