Can you use 250 rings for 255 pistons going into a 250?

If not...I might be kinda screwed here. I've got a set of standard 255 pistons and standard 250 rings, but can't find standard 255 rings in stock anywhere (anyone have a source?)

Both the 255 and 250 use the same 5/64 in. x 5/64 in. x 3/16 in. ring set.

Yes, those dims are the same, but they show up as different part numbers everywhere. Didn't know if there was some other detail that'd prevent their proper use.

I managed to find a set of Hastings 5618 std rings on eBay, so will see what's actually different between them when they come in.

Hi mad_science, the Rings can be Cast, Molly Coated, or a Plasma Molly so there's 3 different part numbers Ford used Molly for many years don't know what the newer engines like a 255 V8 used, and they might still make the old Chrome style Rings too. How far dose that 255 V8 Piston end up being down the hole with a stock 250 Rod? The 2.5L Taurus rod is 5.990" long (has Ford # E63E-B1A on them) they have been successfully used in a couple 250 Six street builds, not saying that they would be right for your Race Car though. But there are also two nice Molnar aftermarket Rods being made in a 5.976 Length, has the Stock Rod Journal size of a Duratec 2.5), with 3/8 dia. ARP2000 fasteners installed, and weight in at 552 Grams, # ZH5976MEB4-A have a 21 MM for Ford 2.5 Duratech & # ZH5976MCB4-A have a 20 MM Pin size that also fits a Mazda MZR 2.5.
