Just finished replacing the water pump. The one I pulled off looked fine. :x
Still running about 220-240* water temp. The guage is a new Hastings unit.
I've also swapped a couple of thermostats and they all have the same response after opening. I even drilled a hole in one of them. Currently have a new 195* thermostat installed.
I tested the coolant temp at the rad spout the other day and it didn't seem to get any higher than about 150* or so.
I'm pretty sure I've got the air out, but could that account for the temperature difference?
There was no rust or crap in the coolant, and inside the block/head looked absolutely clean.
I've also adjusted the timing back to stock, about 10*, no change.
The other thing I can add is that I have the double-roller chain, and the cam's advanced 4*. Could that account for the extra heat?
Also, it has never boiled over, even though the guage went up to about 250-260 max.
