shaving down the intake mount

Has anyone ever shaved down the intake mount on the log. I have a 65 mustang 200 and I am having problems with clearence. I have a holley 2300 series 350 CFM with the Cifford (webber + holley plate) This puts the whole set up to high to close my hood. I pulled the engine and now i was wondering can you shave down the intake mount with out removing the head??? I would like to shave off avout 1/4"

Interesting idea. I doubt you could do it effectively without removing the head. So, since all car modification is a slippery slope , as long you are going to shave off 1/4", why not cut the whole thing off, oval the hole, and mount the carb right on the log? You'd gain a good deal of power.

There you go! Just lower the engine. Seems like a much simpler solution.

Isn't lowering the motor going to throw the u-joint angle off??

yes it wil do a little bit , but i almost drive now 4 years with it , and np !!
