Hay there as some already know I got a 200cid six out of my '64 Ranchero (it has a '65 7 main engine)
I'm pretty sure I need to bore it because of wear on the rim of the bore at the top of the deck. I may beable to get away with a hone and new rings (which wouldnt bother me much) but if I cannot. What is the largest over bore you can do with out sleeving it, (i have no plan to take it that far, but would like to know for rebuilding.)
Also since I have no expearance with the cams around for this engine (or any experance with the engine it self yet) Which cam would you guys recomend for a slight increase in power with out shifting the power band up much.
I'm going to keep head re-working to a minimum as I plan to switch over to the new head thats being built by SCP when it becomes available. If it takes me any longer to set time aside to work on the engine i'll have the head befor I put the engine together.
Keep in mind Im not going to be building an all out brute of a 200, I'm trying to building a nice daily driver that will haul loads around 200-600 pounds fairly often. It would seam i dont need to worrie about pulling the heavy load I was orginialy going to think I would use it for once a month as I may be getting my work's old delivery truck if I play my cards right. (which is more then big enough to pull a trailer with a 2000 pound car to the track once a month.)
As for ignition, I'm planing on a Pertronix, I currently have one on my other car and I am firmilar with how to use them. I'm still debating on the carb for the momement. If I get the new head I will need a 2 berrel, and if I re-build with the stock head, knowing good darn well i plan to get the new head should i get an adaptor to fit on a 2 berrel, or just re-build the old 1 holer and hold off on the carb till I get the new head, more specific Would I see any gain with a 2 berrel carb on a fairly stock head, that will answere my question of weither I should wait till I get the new head or not.
Thanks for your responses.
