This will be fun

Nope. I’m gonna use a 4speed with a gear splitter. Thanks for thinking about it tho.

Headed off to the machine shop to drop off the block and internals now. He’s a great guy but sometimes speaks above my intellect when it comes to this stuff. I’m sure I’ll have questions for y’all!!
Actually I have one now...
ARP rod bolts, can I order now or do I wait for some measurement later?
If now any leads, or special type?
Thanks

So Danny from the machine shop let me know that the cylinders were bored .030 thataway I can get pistons ordered. He didn’t mention the surface of the block and I failed to ask. I’ll call him in the morning. What should my target compression ratio be? I’m looking at Racetecs order sheet now. Should I order rings from them as well or? There’s a lot to understand here.
This is still fun

You will need the deck height.
If the block deck needs to be surfaced (recommended) the deck height will need to be measured afterwards.
You will also need the actual measured connecting rod length.

shoot for a 8.3 compression ratio.

Have Racetec supply the rings.

Any questions on the order sheet?

What octane pump gas are you going to use?

Here’s what I’ve got so far.
The orange highlighted I’m not sure of.
Id like to use the cheap gas.
Thank you!!

-material thickness above the pin
-pins with the order?
-pin length
-wall thickness:
-lock type(I assume press fit?)
-pin material
-piston to deck ht. Desired:
-do I need gas ports?
-pin fit yes or no?
-I’m not sure what CD means

From the cam card I got these numbers:
valve lift intake.448/valve lift exhaust.442(or should it be the lobe lift numbers?)

Starting at the top.

If you are ordering 2618 alloy pistons you check the Racetec box. If 4032 alloy check the Autotec box

You listed the rod length at 6.21 They will actually be shorter after they are resized with ARP bolts.
Measure them now and see what they are.

Small End width is .992"

The top of the connecting rods have a high pad above the piston pin hole which can be shortened when the rods are balanced.
For now measure the highest one. it may be as high as .600"

Dome Volume is -30

CD is the pin height in the piston from the piston top.
If the rods measure 6.21" and the block deck is 10.00" and you put the piston in the hole .010" for margin then the CD is 1.79"

Pins with order YES

Pin diameter is .975"

Leave wall Thickness and Length blank. Racetec will determine those specs.

Lock Type is Press fit

Piston to Deck height is .010"

In optional features Check the Pin Fit box
No gas ports.

In the notes section lower right corner write. "No Pin Offset"

The valve lift numbers are correct to use.

I stopped by the machine shop today and...

-rod length is 6.205
-block deck height is 9.990
-above the pin is .395(largest)
-cylinder bore length is 6.400

Questions:

Does this change CD to 1.785?
Are the autotec 4032 acceptable?
What should I put for HP?
I put 10 lbs of boost. Cool?
Piston to deck height .010 is still ok?
Pin material?

Yes, CD is now 1.785"
4032 alloy will work just fine.
Put 400 HP
Put 12 lbs of boost. It's a good start but everyone pushes the boost sooner or later.
Stay with .010" piston to deck height.
Where you put that the head was milled add .010" where it says "flat".
Put .400" for "above the pin"

Thanks I talked to Racetec this morning and ordered the pistons. 6-8 weeks. I guess in the meantime I’ll get things I don’t have yet.
I’m gonna order the timing set and oil pump tomorrow. Any preference on these? I can also start getting educated on injectors and the fuel pump. On a happier note, I received a Holley Terminator box of joy yesterday.

Trying to decide if the hi volume oil pump is the way to go. I need some advice here. What do you think Pmuller9?
