Weber 32/36 hard cold start

Did the swap and changed over to DUI as well and have a hard time starting if the car has been sitting a week. No how many times I do or don't mash the pedal. It's currently setup with a mechanical pump and regulator. Have been reading that swapping to the electric and letting the system prime itself before starting may help. I pm'd does10s to see if they have and might just go that route.

Anyone have other tips?

By the sound of it the fuel is draining back to the tank while it sits. A tired pump is more lickey to let it happen than a new one they have a built in check valve.you could put in a in line check valve. A full tank helps against it. I have done the Webber my shelf with the stock Ford pump new don't have a single problem holds fuel all winter.

I have installed a new pump but it was from NAPA.

Is the carp tuned. If it has a rich air fuel mix it will need to open the chock first if electrical, takes 5 10 min. Have you tried to start is in clear flood mood (floored) while cranking?

One suggestion to verify fuel in the line, would be to put a see-through, fuel filter, inline, before the carb. That way you could see if there is fuel in the line or is it draining out.

Just a thought.

There are many many cars that do not require an electrical fuel pump to get started.
I don't know how you're pumping the gas, but I will recommend pumping it until it catches and then continue to rev it up and down after it does.
Your choke and high idle may not be set up correctly.
I have removed the choke on my carb, have a drilled butterfly bigger jet and removed all the other junk and I can still get it going in severely cold weather.
But I am plugging it in, and will also use a oil pan heater for a while before trying if it's real cold.

and whoa it's been cold lately... :chill: brr

get someone to squirt some starter fluid in there, go boom...
