Howdy, I hane a 1966 C4 tranny w/ a 1966 mustang all in a 1964 comet. When I put the car in drive, I step on the gas, it stalls significantly, then goes, then stalls, then goes, ect.... What is the Problem? Fluid? Is the tranny broken? It was rebuilt by the guy I bought it from 2 years ago.

Thanks

Sounds like a band adjustment. The 1-2 band adjustment is on the side of the tranny. It is a 3/4 locknut and 3/8 four sided bolt in the middle. You torque the 3/8 bolt to 35 FOOT POUNDS AND BACK OFF EXACTLY ONE AND THREEQUARTER TURNS! Then holding the bolt where it is you lock down the lock nut. You should consult a manual to make sure thet the torque numbers that I gave you are correct. Also those early c-4's have a weak cut back valve in the valve body and really can use a shift kit to get them shifting like the later c-4's. I can give you all of the correct numbers if you really need them when I get to the shop tomorrow.
