Cleaning out gas tank?

Hello all, when I got my car the gas cap wasn't on because it was getting ready for paint, now that I'm getting to the point of making it road worthy again, I want to clean out the gas tank because it has sat through two huge dirt/dust storms without the cap on and don't want any problems with that. What are your recommendations for this task?

If you are just worried about dirt you could add an extra fuel filter (in line type) before carb or drain tank out and flush with fresh gas. If you think it might have rust in it and have a Radiator shop near by they can boil it out or you can have it chem stripped too afterwards I use aircraft slushing compound to seal the tank.

Since the cap was not on it when you bought it, go on and have it cleaned at radiator shop. Lord know's whats in there or how long it's been open. Cheap insurance, get to check the sender and eliminate headaches later. Local shop here will do for $35.
