Converting to triple carbs w/Offy adapter

Well, I finally found a used Offy 5970 triple intake adapter I've been on a quest for and am going to be putting it on my 73 Mav with a 200. Too many people are saying drop a 302 in there but as we're all aware there's something about sixes that's just plain cool. I like being able to reach through and pick up that wrench when I drop it. Besides, I'll be able to keep my working A/C, not have to deal with front end changes, rounding up all the parts, etc.

As with any project, any pics of somebody elses conversion would be helpful. I'm going to document it on my end with photos for the next guy.

While I've got a Holley 5200 on there right now, I've still got the original Carter YF62459 so I'm opening this discussion wide open for all insights, tuning tips, carb selection, re-jetting, etc. I'm trying to get this done as affordably as possible so it won't be a project that has all primo highest dollar stuff available.

I'm not going to be racing it or showing it but want the job to look good and add a little performance.

The head was rebuilt about 14K miles ago using the hardend valves (previous owner) so I think I'll be OK with bolting it back on there as is. Money's got a lot to do with that decision as well. Guess it makes sense to replace all the seals while it's off.

I've got a set of factory manuals for the car but this will be the first time I've gotten any deeper than just the valve covers on a motor from the top side. Tips and insights on removal and reinstallation are appreciated.

I'll also be adding headers at the same time and am going to fabricate an extension for my A/C mounting brackets so I can leave the refrigerator sized compressor above the alternator. Looks like I'll just need to move it out an inch or so to get the clearance I need between the compressor and front exhaust outlets.

Anyway, I think y'all get the general idea of where I'm trying to get with the car. I'll appreciate your help.

Could have dropped the small block in years ago,but the six is original to the car. I like getting 25mpg around town and watchin the looks on peoples faces when I pop the hood and there is half an engine with three times too many carbs!!!

Thanks all for fortifying my decision to stay with the 6. What carb setup did you go with? I'll probably keep the stock cam in there for now. Any photos of the setup would be great.

I'll chime in on the stock cam and tri carb.

I'm running 3 1963 autolite 1100's w/stock cam in my '66 with a 200 and Offy adapter. I know I was nervous before putting the "new" head on the car, thinking it would cause the engine to bog w/the stock cam, but I was really surprised how well it handled the extra induction. These engines must've been pretty well suffocated by the head even with the stock cam and the 1100's seem just about perfect, although I do have the larger valves. People may dog the 1100's, but I know once I got mine to stop leaking they have been trouble free and made my car fun to drive again. Biggest problem was finding air cleaners.

What do you think about my Holley 5200 in the center and two Autolite 1100's on each end connected progressively? Do you think I'll end up being able to watch my fuel guage moving to E?

Fill me in a little as well with what cam could be stuck up under there without having to do a lot of work on the top? As you all can probably tell, I'm not at near the technical speed some of you guys are but with some good instructions and tips from you guys I'm not afraid to pull the pieces off, replace recommended parts and bolt it back together.

I'm getting ready to pull the head on this thing and need to start narrowing down the carb selection as well as make a decision on a cam. Anyone think my Holley 5200 with progressive linkage for some Autolite's 1100'1 or Weber 34's on the end is going to work?
