200ci Degree the cam?

This applies only to 200ci
I’m re-reading all your posts.

Another question:
How fresh is the fuel? Has the fuel been sitting in the tank for months?

I’ve bought bad fuel from some stations. I’ve also bought fuel with over 25% ethanol.

Fuel stations here have had tanks mistakenly filled with E85.

Thanks for your help, all of you. I can’t express the gratitude.
Since I don’t drive the car much, mostly because i am fighting these issues, I only put in two gallons at a time. I only use non-ethanol fuel.

I was told if I have full vacuum at cruise the exhaust is not an issue.
Not 100% accurate, here's a fuller picture: higher vacuum = not much air going in OR coming out. Exhaust restriction is less at cruise. Exhaust restriction increases as load increases and vacuum drops. More air moving through the engine that can't get out. The fact that heavy throttle is weak and it won't rev past 3500 under heavy load and the exhaust manifold is severely over temperature describes exhaust restriction perfectly. If you find that the valves/cam/ignition/carburetor is all ok- then exhaust restriction is all that's left. . . . At this phase I feel it is a likely culprit.

To Do & Check off list:
(tests and findings will be posted here for reference)

Engine Initial Timing 10-12 degrees ok

• Timing mark on flywheel damper: ok

• Engine Compression: ok

• Camshaft Degree: ok

• Fuel Pressure: 3 lbs. ok

• Distributor: run vacuum canister leak down test. ok

• Fuel: Using ethanol free. questionable

• Exhaust Restriction Test:
Remove Exhaust Down pipe from exhaust manifold outlet.

• Ignition Coil Test:
ok

VA unit holds perfectly at least 18”. It will be a few days before I can test for exhaust restriction.

18” of vacuum doesn’t tell us if the leak down test passed. If you have a vacuum pump, hook it to the distributor vacuum canister and see if it holds vacuum.

I hooked a vacuum pump to the distributor, pumped it up to 18”, and watched it stay there for a couple minutes. Do I need to watch it longer?
