Difference between stock lifters and Isky lifters?

I was wondering if there is a difference between the stock lifters and lifters from a performance company like Isky. Also i had to pull engine back out of the car due to a tapping noise that i thought was coming from a rear lifter. But also thought maybe it might be that the cam lobe went flat. I pulled the rear lifters out and there was no ware on the bottoms to indicate the lifter was bad. Is there anything else i should check on the lifter to check if it is good? Should i be able to compress the center on the lifter cause i could not. Also am i able to tell if a cam lobe went flat by looking through the lifter hole or do i need to remove the cam? I am not sure what i am looking for on the cam lobe.

Thanks,
Nazs

Your lifter still could be bad, my son Jason (LittleRoo) had to replace TWO Isky lifters about 30 days apart that both colasped. They will show no signs of ware on a new colasped lifter  If your head is off replace the suspect lifter with a local stock lifter and I'm sure the sound will go away! yes Isky will send you a replacement, which will take a few days and then they want you to return the bad lifter, all a PITA to get a $5.00 lifter and your out all the labor.

Thanks for the info. I will check the exhaust gasket to make sure there are no leaks either. Mustangaroo so are you saying i can use a stock lifter and keep it that way or should i wait till i get the new one from Isky?

My understanding is there are only a few makers of lifters today and that a stock lifter for the 200 six is the same design as the Isky ones. We waited for the Isky replacement, but if it were to happen again we would just get and us a stock lifter.
