DSII Question

I got an return email from the guy who does the DSII recurves on my inquiry to buy one, and he ask what is the diameter of the distributor shaft. As I don't currently have any way to properly measure it, and I taking into consideration that I had to do a little grinding sanding to get it to slide in smoothly, does anyone happen to know that info. My block is a 200 and it's from a '66. The DSII im using and had to grind down slightly is from an '81 Zepher. The second question is should I also buy a new control box at the same time or use the one I currently have.

I'm assuming the fellow wants to know the pilot diameter. If your motor has seven mains, it will be 0.530" - earlier units were 40 thou less and had a smaller internal hex broaching for the oil pump drive shaft.

Sounds as though you relieved the housing nose where that fits into the block, rather than ground down the shaft pilot.

Thanks Addo. Your right, the part I had to grid down was just above the gear on the shaft and just below the part that is groved for the o ring, and only slightly. It surprized me that the part with the oring did not need to be taken down at all. Another one I picked up at the same time from a '79 did not need the grinding.
