Got my FSPP valve cover!

Tim, I found a decent pcv grommet #42323 HELP! by motormite.

The hole in the casting is 1 1/4 & for the breather which is a 1" push in breather, I found one in the HELP!, but I'm not satisfied with the fit in the valve cover, it works, but I siliconed it in.

I found a grommet in big b auto #BBA-9358X for the push in breather.
I'm going to order one to check it out. 866-392-2442 is their phone number. William

Allen head bolts work the best. I have some on order, but haven't gotten them in yet. Size is 1/4 - 20. I also ordered gromets and oil caps, but not until yesterday, so it wil be a few days before I list them on the website.

Believe it or not...after 5 years I'm just getting around to installing this valve cover. The entire car is completely done, and this is the last touch. I'm still having the same PCV grommet problem, however. Anyone have a stock or parts number from a correctly fitting PCV grommet for the alloy cover?

and, as promised, pics when I finish.

Okay....I'm getting a significant amount of blow by from the oil breather cap. It is much more so than when I had the stock valve cover. As nearly as I can tell, there is no baffle underneath. I expect a certain amount of blow by, but not this much. Anyone else install the FSPP valve cover and experience this problem?

put the baffled grommet in, still some blow by. I'm going to move to a heavier weight oil, I think. Real answer is new rings, but I'm just not up for that right now.

Hello MrMootsie,
I'm curious, I assume the CI aluminum valve covers do not have a baffle below the pcv opening (on the inside of VC) like the stock ones do, is that correct?
Probably a silly question, and guessing it's why you and Gene mention a "baffled grommet"; just wanting to make sure in case I purchase one down the road...they sure are sharp

On your blow by, have you done a compression test lately? Or considered the valve stem seals (notorious for leaking)?
I need to set aside a day to do some various testing on mine, fuel pump pressure, compression, and a leak down would be nice too...just gotta find the time. Thanks for any light you can shed on the above questions. Have fun

Your assumption is correct. There isn't a baffle on the valve cover. This isn't a factor if you don't have a crankcase pressure problem, but I have one. I have oil coming from every possible outlet. Dipstick, distributor, PCV, oil breather.....everywhere. A baffled grommet isnt the answer in my case I actually took the engine out in long block configuration and took it to be rebuilt by Golen Engine Services in New Hampshire. I just got tired of chasing a quick solution. I hear you about finding time. I just don't have enough of it to devote to the engine.
