I6 200 block with 2 dip stick tubes ?

I have 2 200 I6 engines , one is original to my 66 mustang and the other one is a 1978 block.

The 66 has only 1 dip stick tube right by the engine mount while the 78 has 2 , one by the engine mount like the 66 and the other more towards the back.

My question is :

Does anyone know from what years did they come with 2 dip stick tubes and from what cars?

The reason I am asking this is because the Custom Coilover IFS suspension that I bought requires a rear sump oil pan to clear the crossmember so I will need a block with the rear dip stick tube and my 78 block has been bored 30 over and I dont want to bore it more. Thanks in advance.

Check the late 70's to early 80's Mustangs, Fairmount's, and its Merc cousin they have the same Fox chassis.

does the 78 have an automatic transmission attached? I have never heard of an engine with two dip stick for oil. Why would ford do that? It cost money two do that. The only reason I can think of for this is some one converted this block to a rear sump pan and added a dip stick to messure the oil level and did not remove the other. Most likely it's is for automatic tranmission oillevel hense my question about any automatic tranmission attached.

my 1978 Fairmont engine ( 200 cid) had 2 spots for a engine oil dip stick. one was used , the other plugged.

I had to swap the dip stick to the other location for the oil pan that fit my 1962 Falcon when the 1978 engine was installed

For what it's worth, the early Bronco used a rear sump oil pan and dipstick pan mounted on the passenger side. Mine is a 69 block, but was an option till 74.
