i've had a PII for over a year now, but just got it installed today. I've been chasing down other electrical gremlins. Holy Crap! the cars idling smoother and pulling harder than it has in years. I think i've still got a timing issue, but that's for tomorrow.

Yeah, I still have points. My dad says its best to keep the car all stock. I have no idea what points are.

Tell your dad that he can have the Stang run better than new and still look bone stock with Pertronix II, a black Pertronix Flamethrower coil and Pertronix 7mm spark plug wires. Better yet, you put them in without telling him and when the gas milage goes up and it starts up right away, he'll think it was him the last time he tweaked the fabulator.
Signed, Dad.

Funny but similar story - I converted over to a Duraspark 2 system way back when, but was running a stock coil. Always worked better than the original dizzy so I was happy.

This weekend I upgraded to a PII with a Pertronix coil in another car, and I put the MSD coil I was using in the 'Stang.

Holy Moley! Car started right up, idle was great, and the car pulled really strong. It was like a dropped a new motor in there, all with a $50 coil!

yea the high ignition coils sure are amazing...mine died awhile back and stupidly i replaced it with a stock coil....blah...noticed the lack of power right away...when i get my cheque this weekend though i'm definitely getting one again...i dont know what kinda distributer i'm running though...my dad replaced it so its probably just a cheapy...its blue....
