hey guys,

well tonight we installed an msd 6a on my bros mustang, and it all went to sh*T. well kinda it does not start it trys to but then it continues to crank over. ran like a champ before except at higher rpm. any ideas. 66 200

It will crank and not start if the white wire was hooked up on mine. Somethin like that. I hooked it to a switch as kinda a theft deterence thing. Check out the wiring and then try again. Sometimes things can get mixed up...believe me, I know, lol

How did you wire it?????

What kind of distributor?
Coil?

Still using the "resistor" wire the stock coil used???

Older Fords don't run a ballast resitor to the coil, they use a "specific length" resistor wire to the coil from the ignition switch.

It drops the volts down to 8 so the points don't get burned.

MSD hates voltage losses ANYWHERE. The small red trigger wire needs a full twelve+ volts, and the large red needs a VERY good source of 12 volts that can handle the amp flow. Also need to have a GOOD ground.

What is your trigger? Points or Duraspark?

Again, how is it wired???
