Oil Presure....again

I've got a new oil presure problem. I was having a problem before with my oil preasure droping at stops and while turning right, I dropped the pan and bent the pick up down more and solved the problem. Well now I have this new problem where I loose my preasure when my car shifts to second gear. it will drop down to zero and then twitch a bit and eventually snap back up to around 50 psi. If I let off the gas a little bit when it drops it will come back up. This one is really confusing me. I am already running a quart extra to try to help compinsate for this. Any ideas?

Is it a 2 speed auto transmission?

Does it to this at idle and park?

I suspect your oil pump may be dieing and can't pump enough oil at lower speeds. But, if you aren't getting it at idle/park, that may be hard to find the problem.

It's a C-4 trans.

It pumps fine at idle. It's also a brand new oil pump. I have a spare that I can try. The more I study the problem the more I think that I may just need to do some more bending on the pickup. It's just a pain to drop the pan and fiddle with it.

What if there is an air leak in your pickup, or if the dipstick is inaccurate?

Do you mean like a hole in the pickup tube? That could be, I have a spare one of those too. The dipdtick should be good, I made a new tube for it and then re-marked the full line when I changed the oil.

I think all signs are pointing to dropping the pan and swaping some stuff around. I noticed just now as I came off the freeway and was idleing at a light, I only had about 5 psi where normally I should be up around 20.

I'm wondering if when you bent the pick up down, you didn't put a small crack in the tube...that metal is pretty thin.
