oil pump?

Good Q Richard, helps me choose a gauge.

Thanks for the info Bill. Prob is I may be too ignorant to understand.
"...You don't need 60# off idle or even 45# at idle..."
AND
"...You only need 45# above idle with 10W-30 oil & 25-30# at idle..."
So if I run 10W-40 what do I look for as correct pressure @ these rpm? The same (45 - 30#)?

I wrk for 1 of the big box prts warehouses and C all the Chinese prts come in and bought out.
"...an AC delco gear which has been hardened by nitriding then parkerized & last is an AC delco gear which has been parkerized..."
How can I identify/select & recommend to customers the ACd nitrited & perkerized distributer you mention having the 'better' gear?

Lastly, I sell Melling parts. How is the o. pump modified (clearenced/spring shortened) or is there one out there that's good and accessible to the masses.

TIA, thanks for your continued support here.

its a mechanical sun gage, it gets up to 60 when it is cold in the morning, it is usually at 35 at idle and 50 on the freeway but if its hot out it will drop to 40

I thought your 60# reading was on a hot engine.
If it drops to 40# hot then don't touch it.
There is a post several years ago where does10s & myself found scoring from lack of internal clearance.
In your situation your bearing clearance maybe a little loose so just leave be. Bill
