Help-
I recently "fixed" 2 problems on my comet with a '69 200 6.
1. Slow leak from oil drain plug fixed with a rubber expandable drain
plug that expands as you tighten the screw.
2. Rough idle after cold starts due to choke plate not closing when
cold - fixed by attaching new spring to keep it closed until opened by
the choke temp coil spring.
I ran the car a few times with this set up and it worked great- the
leak was gone and the car worked great even on cold starts.
The car sat for 10 days and now it is really rough- it sounds the same
as when I accidentally crossed plug wires 3 and 4 last year. It does
not smooth out when I go around the block. I can see small specks of
oil on the plug wires between plugs 1 and 2, on the top of the
distributor, on the undersurface of the hood above the distributor. I
checked the oil level and it is fine (just changed oil). All the plugs
are new and the oil filter is also new.
I checked the carb and choke plate - look fine.
Any ideas about the rough running and the oil spray?
