I'm hoping to finally chase down the overheating issues in my sprint coupe this sunday. And I have a couple of questions....
1. For the first time, I'm going to "power flush" the engine without running though the radiator. Is this as simple as disconnecting both radiator hoses, hooking a hose up to one, using a rag and hand to cause pressure, and let it flow - hopefully clearing any junk out. Reverse and repeat?
2. With the overheating, I was also seeing my carb "percolate" gas, even with the stock spacer. (BTW, I don't run a heater so no heater hoses run through the spacer). Has anyone ever fabbed a phenolic spacer to keep their sixer carb cooler? Tips?
3. Lastly, my parts store dropped the ball and did not get me new carb/spacer gaskets. The ones on there now have only been installed 3 weeks, and run once. Can I reuse? Or better to remove and cut new ones from some gasketing material?
Oh, and one last random one. On the bottom of the 1100 carb there's a small hole that mates to a tiny trench in the top of the carb spacer. I assume that I'll need to leave this open in any new gasket I fab.....What's this hole/trench accomplish?
Thanks - Dickson
