Project turbo six is underway!

Well, after talking about it forever and having most of the stuff ready to go the turbo six is slowly working it's way into the import killer. The weather is getting cold and the tracks are all closed down for the season and I have a lot going on anyways so I am going to take my time with it. I am not sure how long it will take but just as long as it is done before the weather starts getting warmer I will be happy. I have started taking my car apart(no going back now!) and got to work on the turbo 200. I am going to try to make everything look nice also so that will take a lot of time. I can't wait to pop the hood at the cruise in and the track next year! I think it will be a lot of fun. I am really excited about it if you can't tell!

Please DO try to document pictorally. You can have pix from an optical camera written onto a disc when they are processed, or you can scan them when developed.

Pick the best and you'll find someone on this site willing to host them- if not, places like juno or yahoo will host for free.

The deal is, this site is a deep well of information. Anything we can to to add to the depth will assist other members, even if it only gett them thinking about what might be. When they start thinking what might be, it can become reality

Good to see some concrete movement for turbo 200s. I just picked up two Buick turbos for a draw-thru using a Quadrajet and no electronics. My block and head are slowly making their way through the machinist. I hope I can start mocking things up in a few weeks. In the meantime I'll make sure one of the turbos is ready to go.

A couple of items; seems to me a rebuilt Quadrajet with electric choke is the way to go. Anyone have Quadrajet experience? A M4ME?

MSD makes a box with adjustable boost retard. This, too, seems like a good idea.

Lets all learn together.

graeme, I'd go with the Multi Function Ignition controller when/if I ever go turbo.

Used in conjuction with a regular MSD ignition box, it gives a lot of advantaged. You can program it for RPM and Boost. You can get rid of all mech and vac advance on you dizzy and just lock it out at full advance and the controller does the rest.

Pricey yes...but better then a blown engine (as in dead...not forced air )

Yeah, that MSD piece is nice, but I'm trying to keep this project less costly. I'm going to start conservatively when it comes to boost--especially with cast piston. I first want to get it to work smoothly and then look at another block.

I also have a '34 Hudson 5-window coupe streetrod with money demands.
