Recurving a Distributor

I have a 76 250/c4 Mav with electronic ignition. I am trying to get the most out of this engine before any serious modifications are done. The current or soon to be done: current RBS and K&N filter, next 6-2-1 header and lastly a '70 250 timming gears and chain.
Can anyone tell me what the factory total advance setting is for the distributor? (Degrees @ rpm)? Thanks

Ken, since you plan many modifications, a different advance curve would be needed for every change.

For example I have a 200, with flat top pistons 0 deck & 10-1 compression ratio, a 224 degree camshaft advanced 4 degrees @ .050, 1.65 full roller rocker arms, full length headers to a dual exhaust system, C-4 trans to a 2.83 rear & a 4412 carb with a direct mount to the log.

I run 10 degrees centrifigul X2 =20 + 16 degrees initial for a 36 total.

i am right on the edge using 93 octane fuel.

Don't copy my specs unless your combination matches mine.

Every combination requires a different curve depending on your engine.

Ken need someone with a shop manual to chime in to answer your imediate question.

These engines are not computer controlled, so you need someone with many years of experience to achieve full potential. William

I hope to get the header installed this weekend and have the exhaust pipe bent Monday.
I saw a cool looking timing light in a Sears’s catalog that will read the advance. Similar to a scope. I am planning on doing the Distributor last. Probably in a couple of months.

What type of wheel hps are you getting? I am hoping for ~120whps and torque galore!

Ken, I have no idea of rear wheel horsepower on my mustang cause it has not been run on a chassis dyno.

However I ran a 10.69 @ 66.90 mph on an 1/8 mile strip, on a 95 degree day 60% humidy @ 39 feet above sea level with real bad wheelhop.

Maybe one of the other members has a formula to figure out HP? William
